On a regular basis, I see in various forums, articles, emails or advertising all sorts of tricks coming from so-called gurus who claim that they have found the magical key for success in your business or your marketing. 

From time to time, in order to have access to these « secrets », one has to register to an email list or take an online course costing money (isn’t that the magical formula?). 

The reality is quite simple and can be listed in these basic principles:  

  • - Find something that you like.  The time spent in your business will be a lot more interesting if you like what you do.
  • - Clearly identify what makes you different from the rest.
  • - Know how to surround yourself well.
  • - Work hard.
  • - Remain constant.  

There are a few tricks and tendencies that might help along the way.  A few years ago, fax blasting was used with good results we were told.  And then having a website was a novelty that separated you from the crowd.  Mass emailing was popular for a while, so much so that governments had to intervene.  Nowadays social media and content marketing are the things to do. 

What will be the next tendency?  There are a few options but regardless of the channel and means of communication you select, it is important to be a dominant force in the chosen one.   

What do I mean by that?  It is of little interest to be on 10 different social platforms and only publish once per week.  It is a lot better to be in fewer, but have a lot more exposure. 

It is important to pay attention to which means of communication you will choose and match targeted clients with your clients’ profile.  Or else all your efforts will go to waste.
